LaBarron and Lori Boone, Married 16 Years

RRJ:  Have you both been Christ-followers since a young age?

Lori:  We both attended church from the time we were babies. We were both baptized as teenagers. However going to church is much different than living a Christ-filled life. That transformation happened while in law school for LaBarron. When adversity hit, his faith was tested and God clearly revealed Himself to him.  LaBarron said it was as if he was having a conversation with God when God clearly said you cannot expect my blessing unless you live a life worthy of my mercy and grace.  At that time LaBarron’s journey began anew and He strove to Honor the Lord. My journey began after law school when I had reached all of my goals and still felt something was missing from my life. I began reading the Bible and experienced my life being transformed when the words came to life for the first time.

Christmas in the River Region

Celebrate Christmas: Special Church Events in the River Region

RRJ:  You grew up in Gadsden, Alabama in a Christian home. How did your parents create an environment for you to come to know God’s love through Christ?

Jodi:  I was blessed to have parents who provided a home of unconditional love. It was not until I became a parent that I began to understand just how much my parents created a home environment of love and support, which established my foundation of confidence and security in my faith.

Larry Stevens, President, SMI Advertising

RRJ: Many people associate you with Montgomery because of your nearly 30-year career on radio, but where did you grow up?

RRJ: Linette and Jeff, can you share how each of you came to be a Christ follower and child of God?

Linette: I became a Christian when I was nine years old. I understood at that time all I needed to know at that young age…I was a sinner whom Jesus loved and died to save, and the only way to have eternal life was through Him. Over the years, there have been several milestones in my spiritual growth, lots of ups and downs, but my desire is to follow Him and serve Him every day.

RRJ:  When did God first reveal to you your need for Christ’s atoning work?

RRJ:  You’re the owner of P’zazz Art Studio in Prattville, but that wasn’t the career path you originally thought you would take.  What did you do before P’zazz?

RRJ: Your belief in Christ began in your home country of Nigeria, but in many ways it began before you were born when your father learned about Christ and trusted in Him for salvation and newness of life.  How did that happen in his life?

Mike and Jo Yates

RRJ: Can you begin by sharing when you two first trusted in Christ for salvation and made Him Lord of your lives?

Jo: I was 10 years old when I asked Jesus to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.  I responded to an altar call at Forest Park Baptist Church and was baptized shortly thereafter. This was the beginning of a journey with the Lord, and there were times of back sliding and other times of great spiritual growth. I believe that we all go through seasons in our walk with the Lord, no matter what our age.

Mike: I had heard about God and Jesus Christ throughout my young life, but I did not grow up in a church-going family, so I was never introduced to Jesus in a personal way, until I got married. At the age of 23, I responded to the invitation to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior while attending a Fellowship of Christian Athletes conference.
