Why Should We Forgive?

Forgiveness has long been addressed by religious faith and beliefs. It is only in the last couple of decades that psychotherapists have begun to see the importance of forgiveness. We all know of Peter’s question to Jesus about forgiving.

Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” (Matthew, Ch. 18, vs. 21, 22, NIV)

Forgiveness, the Healing Power

The Lord is real keen on forgiveness. And, if you continue seeking God, He will speak to you about forgiving others. He may even choose to speak through you.

Daily Forgiving

Is there someone you know who makes your heart beat faster, your breath shorter, your throat tighter or your stomach more acidic every time you see or think of them? If so, there is a very good chance that you have been offended and have not granted that person forgiveness.

Choosing Forgiveness

I remember the sick feeling in my stomach when I heard about the brutal shooting of ten Amish girls at a rural school near Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania in October, 2006. Five girls died and, to this day, one survivor still remains semi-comatose in her parents’ home. How could anyone be so vicious? News reports validated that I wasn’t the only one who felt horror - and yes, a tinge of anger - at this unfair and evil act.

Have We Moved Out Of Jesus' Neighborhood?

I was listening to Pandora yesterday at work and a Derek Webb song came on.  You know how it is when you have the radio playing in the background.  Sometimes you hear what they're singing and other times not.  You purposely want it in the background, but when this song came on, it jumped from my background to my foreground.  The song was Derek Webb's "Rich Young Ruler" off his 2005 Mockingbird Album.
