RRJ:  Even though you were exposed to Christ as a young child, late in high school God began speaking into your heart that He wanted a deeper relationship with you.  How did that happen and how did you respond?

Katrina:  I grew up in a very ritual-based church, also attending that church’s school from kindergarten through 9th grade. I practiced those rituals “religiously”, but felt God was calling me in a different direction. So, the summer after I graduated from high school, I was baptized and began attending a new church. It was then that I felt I could truly be expressive with my faith. As I studied the Bible, I realized Christ and the unwavering word of God was all that mattered. I had a relationship and not a religion!

RRJ: Linette and Jeff, can you share how each of you came to be a Christ follower and child of God?

Linette: I became a Christian when I was nine years old. I understood at that time all I needed to know at that young age…I was a sinner whom Jesus loved and died to save, and the only way to have eternal life was through Him. Over the years, there have been several milestones in my spiritual growth, lots of ups and downs, but my desire is to follow Him and serve Him every day.

RRJ:  When did you come to the realization that you needed the salvation offered by Christ?

I was 17 or 18 years old.  I was watching a PBS special that was showing the U.S. targets of Russia during the Cold War in 1980 or 1981.

RRJ: Your belief in Christ began in your home country of Nigeria, but in many ways it began before you were born when your father learned about Christ and trusted in Him for salvation and newness of life.  How did that happen in his life?

RRJ: Can you begin by sharing when you two first trusted in Christ for salvation and made Him Lord of your lives?

Jo: I was 10 years old when I asked Jesus to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.  I responded to an altar call at Forest Park Baptist Church and was baptized shortly thereafter. This was the beginning of a journey with the Lord, and there were times of back sliding and other times of great spiritual growth. I believe that we all go through seasons in our walk with the Lord, no matter what our age.

Mike: I had heard about God and Jesus Christ throughout my young life, but I did not grow up in a church-going family, so I was never introduced to Jesus in a personal way, until I got married. At the age of 23, I responded to the invitation to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior while attending a Fellowship of Christian Athletes conference.

RRJ:   You had parents who taught you about Christ and you were active in church, but your faith drastically changed in your 30’s. Can you tell us what happened?

Tommy:   During my 20’s, I had simply turned the volume down on God. Sadly, I was totally focused on me, my career and my personal goals. As a result, my relationship with my wife, Sandy, began to suffer. But I began to hear from God at 30 and that still, small voice told me I needed to change.
