Affirming Life

Written by Bob Crittendon

The founders of our country were forthright in declaring that we, as human beings, are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. According to Psalm 139, each of us was designed in our mother’s womb by God and have a right to live. In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court created a conflicting right, a right for a woman to decide whether or not to give birth to her unborn child, and following the Roe vs. Wade ruling, over 50 million babies have lost their lives. Amazing to think about, isn’t it? Americans recently became so caught up in the court trial of a mother who was charged with murdering her 2-year-old child, and so many were offended when Casey Anthony was found “not guilty”, but where is the outrage when there are children who lose their lives every day in America before they even exit the womb?

Planning for the Future

Written by Dave Ramsey

Question: My husband and I are both spenders. We want to get on a plan and handle our money better, but is there anything that will help us learn to give up stuff now so that we’ll have more in the future?

No Free Lunch?

Written by Scotty Harris, Grace Pointe Church

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” – Hebrews 12:11, NIV

Helping Those Labeled with PTSD, Part 2

Written by Henry Beaulieu

Building on what I spoke to last month regarding a healthy response to traumatic situations, it’s critical to repeat that the basis of all genuine change begins when a person is yielded to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Have you cried out to God to forgive you of your sins and cleanse your soul? Do you know the reality and the power of the Holy Spirit living in your life – do you know that you are a child of God, do you hate your sin, and do you desire to live for Christ? From my perspective and that of the Bible, this is the necessary foundation to good and lasting change.

Sharing the Love of Christ in Haiti

Written by Mike and Lisa Conn

Go and make disciples of all
nations…. Matthew 28:19

For years, we’ve promised our daughter, Aimee, that when she was 12 years old we would take her on our annual Family Teams for Christ (FTC) overseas mission trip. This summer was her debut, along with Morgan, a 13 year old on her first mission trip with her parents, John and Mitzi Fleming, of Montgomery. The six of us met our group leader, Margaret, from 410 Bridge, an Atlanta-based non-profit group serving in Haiti. We also purposefully take couples on mission trips so that husbands and wives can share the life-changing experience together, and were excited when Chandler, Margaret’s husband of 30 years, joined his wife and our team!

What If It Were True?

Written by Bob Crittendon

Around 9:00 on the morning of Saturday, May 21, I checked the Internet for the latest news, and determined, since there had not been a rash of natural disasters in parts of the world where 6 pm had already passed, that the world would not end that day. That was no surprise…

The Weak Can’t Help the Weak

Written by Dave Ramsey

Question: My husband and I have been married less than a year, and already we’re having huge disagreements over money. He’s got a big heart, but often he’ll just give money to friends and family. Sometimes, this leaves us short when it comes to monthly bills, paying off debt, and saving anything. I guess he thinks we’ll get by somehow, but it scares me. What can I do?

Bring Your Best

Written by Kim Hendrix

Ephesians 4:1-2:”…I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have
received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one
another in love.”

It’s an awesome privilege to be called “Christ’s very own”. Are we living up to it? Sure we can’t do anything to deserve that title, but we can certainly bring our best every single day.

Is Jesus Your Top Priority?

Written by Dr. Jim Simoneau

On the fourth of July we are reminded of the founding fathers and the dream that God used to bring America to life. If you have read much about the founding fathers, you will realize that many of them made great sacrifices to found this nation. Some lost their fortunes, their families, even their own lives to help us be in a free Christian nation. Christian liberty was worth living for and dying for to them.
